Notably, Monarch is on track to save $1,500,000+ on energy alone over its 90-year lease as Texas’ highest rated LEED certified (Gold) K-12 facility, one of few K-12 schools nationally to have earned the EPA’s “Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR” (designed to be among the nation’s top 14 percent of K-12 schools), and Texas’ first (the nation’s 2nd) 2011 ENERGY STAR label recipient.

GREEN POWER 4 TEXAS helps The Monarch School’s Chrysalis become 1st K-12 School in Texas & 2nd in U.S. to win 2011 ENERGY STAR label

Today, just before a possible government shutdown, the EPA’s ENERGY STAR program awarded The Monarch School’s Chrysalis building – Texas’ healthiest, most sustainable K-12 school – with the first 2011 ENERGY STAR label by a K-12 school in Texas, & the second K-12 school in the United States to earn the 2011 ENERGY STAR building certification for exemplary green building operations.

This award was a natural, but hard-earned follow through by the school after its rare “Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR” (DEES) certification for exemplary design back in 2009. Monarch’s Chrysalis is one of very few DEES recipients in history to earn the ongoing ENERGY STAR label. More—>

Electricity Reliability Council of Texas approves Momentum Bay’s GREEN POWER 4 TEXAS as REC broker

ERCOT approved Momentum Bay’s GREEN POWER 4 TEXAS service division as a broker of Renewable Energy Credits. This approval positions Momentum Bay to help clients avoid the multiple levels of markup from REC generators to master wholesale brokers to brokers and Retail Electric Providers (REPs) before benefitting commercial customers. While purchasing utility green power from REPs can cost a premium of five to eight percent over brown power, purchasing certified RECs directly from REC generators via GREEN POWER 4 TEXAS will make certified green power much more affordable to clients.

Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® program presented Hines with one of its highest honors again—the Sustained Excellence in Energy Management Partner of the Year Award. This award attests to Hines’ extraordinary accomplishments in 2008, but two achievements in particular. First, roughly ten Hines developments earned the “Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR” designation. And, second, Hines labeled in one calendar year over 100 commercial office buildings representing over 55 million square feet, which equals one out of every nine square feet of office space in the United States that earned the ENERGY STAR label in 2008. Hines had also won the “Partner of the Year” award in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. In 2008, Momentum Bay’s Founder Mark Robinson was honored to serve as Hines’ first Sustainability Manager.
